Although this season’s couture week was running slightly under the radar, it was still a place of show stopping moments. Chanel, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier & Schiaparelli presented Couture Collections at the end of June in Paris at the Haute Couture Week Fall 2024. It was craftsmanship excellence and looks that make you dream.
If it is this season’s list of events, like different sports occasions such as the soon to take place Olympics in Paris or other seasons, this season’s couture week was a little more intimate. While celebrities still made the appearance, the list of brands was limited when compared to the Haute Couture Week Spring Summer 2024 which took place earlier this year. However, this doesn’t mean the presentations of the Haute Couture Week Fall 2024 weren’t as exciting as anticipated. Couture is always the chance to see the capabilities of craftsmanship of the participating brands. And further more it is the highlight of their artistic work. Chanel
Chanel presented their collection at the Palais Garnier. After the split from the house’s creative director Virginie Viard, it was a collection designed by the house’s design team. I personally really liked it. It was dramatic with classic Chanel elements.

Dior
Dior’s collection was surprisingly clean. With minimalistic silhouettes and a selective color palette, the house’s designs are timeless and effortless. Effortless is hard to achieve in Haute Couture, simply because so much effort goes into making the pieces. The collection also references different elements from sports.

Jean Paul Gaultier
Nicolas Di Felice designed a mystic and modern collection for the house of Jean Paul Gaultier. He included an homage to the brands signature, the corset and lingerie elements. The outfits as well as the presentation were monochrome and minimalistic.

Schiaparelli
Schiaparelli is drama core. And the house stayed true to this USP. Not only was the collection, its silhouettes, its fabric choices dramatic, but furthermore, the presentation was truly artistic. And likewise there was an evolution in the houses designs. The classic graphic elements were replaced with unique material and tailoring.
