Bomber jackets are here to stay. They’re the most effortless layer ever since women made the original men’s jacket their own. The wardrobe staple is versatile, comfortable, effortless – and simply cool.
Bomber jackets might be the ultimate cool girl piece. They bring an ease to every outfit and quickly turn looks into an effortless style. However, besides being a casual or playful staple, the comfortable and cozy layer has found its way into office wear and can even be worn elegant.
The classic bomber jackets originally dressed the military, but quickly developed into (boy) college or sportswear. There are even famous pieces like the letterman jacket, mostly worn by football players. But (for me) it was women who made them cool. Maybe because bomber jackets are rarely fitted and so they always look like they were just thrown on without putting too much effort into your outfit.
Due to the usage of cotton, or leather material, bomber jackets have a very long life span. Which is great, primarily for purchasing an investment piece, but secondary because you can find great pieces in vintage shops around the world.

Weekly inspiration
This week’s inspiration is a little controversial and for sure out of this world. Nasa recently announced that no one else than Italian fashion house PRADA is designing their space suits for the 2025 mission. What might sound like a joke to some people, actually makes sense when you really think about it. PRADA is the inventor of the nylon material after all. At least I cannot wait to see what that very specific collaboration will bring.
In the spirit of that unique alley, this week’s recommendation is the movie ‘Hidden figures’. It is not only a reference to Nasa and of course its space missions, it is also a great movie about equal rights. Not enough, it has a great soundtrack, the performance is outstanding and the set and costume design is amazing. A great profile of a moment in history, culture, and a nostalgic throwbacks to the 60s.
